What you will see in the video
Teacher Giya, our guide, walks you through the free skills check from start to finish:
- Pick a learning area and your child's grade. Then start the free skills check. There is no sign-up needed.
- Your child answers short questions on your phone. There is no timer.
- You see the report. Each skill is Strong, Keep practicing or Checked in class.
- You get free printable practice packs for the skills to practice first.
- Your child retakes the missed questions for free, until every answer is right.
What is the free skills check?
It is a set of short questions for your child's grade, for parents of learners in Grades 2 to 10. It is a quick way to see where your child is, so practice time goes to the right skills. It takes about 20 minutes. There is no timer, so your child can think calmly. The parent check covers English for Grades 2 to 10 and MAPEH for Grades 4 to 10 (MAPEH is in beta).
You do not need to make an account to start the check.
What will I see in the report?
After the check, the report sorts skills into three groups:
- Strong: skills your child knows well.
- Keep practicing: skills to work on next.
- Checked in class: skills that cannot be checked online, such as writing a paragraph, so your child's teacher sees them in the classroom.
It is plain and short. You do not need to be a teacher to read it. Think of it as a list of "what to work on this week."
What are the free printable packs?
For each skill your child needs to practice, EV Learner has free practice packs you can print. Your child works on them at home, on paper.
To get the free packs, you can add your email or make an account. Both are optional.
What if my child misses some questions?
That is okay. Your child can retake the missed questions for free until every answer is right. A second try is how learning grows.
Is it really free?
The skills check and the printable packs are free. EV Learner is in beta, and early accounts get free credits. Credits are for extra tools such as the full review pack, which adds lessons, more worksheets with answers, and a parent guide for one skill. When you need more, you can top up. The site shows what each item costs before you use any credits.
How do I start?
Open evlearner.com on your phone, pick a learning area and your child's grade, and start. It works in the browser inside Messenger too, so you can open the link from a message and start right there.
